The procurement contract was supported by CoinShares, Europe’s largest digital asset manager, and Gentium, a UK law enforcement consultancy service specializing in financial and cybercrime. The collaboration will provide the UK law enforcement with the necessary infrastructure needed to ensure the efficient handling of criminal cases involving cryptocurrencies. Angela McLaren, the Assistant Commissioner responsible for the NPCC economic and cybercrime portfolio, said the Specialist Cyber Crime Units at local, regional, and national levels across the UK is urgent for accessing a secure storage solution for cryptocurrencies, saying: “This collaboration of services will provide UK policing with the infrastructure needed to ensure the efficient handling of criminal cases that involve cryptocurrencies.” Providing UK police With the Highest Level of Support Komainu, a custodian that offers regulatory compliance and insurance services, is a UK-regulated joint venture between Nomura Holdings, CoinShares, and Ledger that began its operations in June 2020. In the announcement release, Jean-Marie Mognetti, Komainu’s Co-Founder and CEO, stated: “As per the framework agreement, Komainu will provide a fulsome and secure cryptocurrency custody solution for UK policing.
