Amazon Web Services Officially Adds Ethereum to its Blockchain Services

Amazon Web Services Ethereum

It has now become easier for the developers to run Ethereum nodes using Amazon Web Cloud Services. The move made in the announcement on Tuesday was in demand by developers for a long time. Adding Ethereum blockchain to the Amazon Managed Blockchain services was cleared in the announcement on Tuesday.  Amazon Ethereum Management Services Back in the year 2018, Amazon Managed Blockchain was a completely managed service that allowed users of the platform to manage a stable network. The service also eliminates the overhead requirements for creating a blockchain network and now facilitates the automatic scale to meet the demands of applications, running numerous transactions. This is the first time Amazon has announced to provide its own Ethereum management options through its blockchain service. Having Ethereum management options through the blockchain service makes it easy to spin up a node in just minutes. Currently, 57% of Ethereum nodes are hosted on cloud services out of which 40% are using Amazon Web Services, while the remaining 19% are already running on AWS. Purpose Behind Amazon Managed Blockchain Services Amazon’s new Ethereum option supports the main Ethereum blockchain, Rinkeby, and Ropsten. The purpose of providing a managed software service is that it permits crypto industries to access blockchain data without running nodes by themselves. It will support Decentralized Finance DeFi, one of the core use cases of the Ethereum platforms.  In particular, crypto-services need to access historical data that require running Ethereum nodes, which is a complex version of its blockchain. Also, the nodes require expensive electrical equipment to run.  With this new service, AWS has caused a threat to the role of Infura, funded by ConsenSys. Infura is a popular service that runs Ethereum nodes on behalf of crypto companies. Infura is estimated to run between 25% and 50% of its nodes on AWS.
