NiceHash Warns Users About Phoenix Miner Over Possible Fraud

NiceHash Warns Phoenix Miners

NiceHash, the cryptocurrency hash power broker, warns users to stop using Phoenix miners there and then due to the possibility of fraud. According to NiceHash, Phoenix miner is no longer available to its original download source. The new download location does not synchronize with the developer’s value on his channel.  NiceHash Warns Users NiceHash believes that the Phoenix miner’s author is over something malignant and thus advising everyone to stop the usage as early as possible. The statement says: “This brings the possibility that the Phoenix miner’s author wants to cover its tracks and disappear or even do something malicious. We have immediately disabled Phoenix miner from NiceHash Miner, and we advise everyone to stop using Phoenix miner immediately.” Creator Of Phoenix Miner Unknown The situation after the NiceHash statement further got complicated as the author of Phoenix miner is unknown. The software is posing significant risks (as it has no digital signature) to potential and existing users. Furthermore, the hash power broker suspected that any third-party download will possibly have evil-intentioned or fake reasons.   Thus, users are advised to look out if they have the miner on the same device that contains sensitive information like a bank account or personal details. It is recommended by NiceHash to reinstall the operating system and also enable the two-factor authentication security tool.  This comes two weeks later the United States Department of Justice USDJ charged three North Korean nationals over a series of hacking. They were found hacking several cryptocurrency businesses. The hackers are alleged to target NiceHash during December 2017. The NiceHash was hacked and lost 4,736 BTC equivalent to $240 million at the present market value of BTC.  Many gamers were also being warned as they are using Nicehash for Crypto mining to generate little profit, running the service on their PCs outside gaming hours. These users likely use their PC to access services like PayPal, Gmail, Facebook, Dropbox, Google Drive, Instagram, etc. will need to have more concern against the malware warning, as NiceHash PCs would be compromised in that case.
