A survey from Gamblers Pick, a gaming entertainment website, found that 1 out of 4 Americans sees Dogecoin as the future of cryptocurrency. Researchers also found that 23% of investors are expecting to see the meme-based cryptocurrency hit $1 in 2021. 1 Out of 4 Americans Sees Dogecoin As the Future To study the recent retail frenzy within the crypto market, Gamblers Pick, a gaming entertainment website conducted a survey to understand the public perception of Dogecoin.  The study was conducted from a survey of 1,001 respondents familiar with cryptocurrencies in the United States. The respondents that participated in the survey consisted of 5.9% of Gen Z, 60.8% of millennials, 22.6% of GenX, and 10.7% of baby boomers. While 59.3% were men and 40.7% identified as women. The results found that most Dogecoin enthusiasts are strongly rooting for the cryptocurrency to be accepted as a payment method among popular retail markets. About 2.9% wish Amazon accepts Dogecoin as payment while another 29.1% want Walmart to accept Dogecoin as a payment. Meanwhile, 41.1% of respondents said they didn’t really want any stores to accept Dogecoin. While most of them heard the cryptocurrency through social media (33.7%), 21.7% got to know it from their family and friends. While 18% of the respondents said they first heard of Dogecoin through Elon Musk’s-related tweets. Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFTs Too Captured in the Survey The research also captured the cryptocurrencies invested in by respondents. Out of the total, 69.5% said they have invested in Bitcoin while 39.6% have invested in Ethereum, with 29.6% buying Dogecoin. Meanwhile, just under half of the respondents had heard of Ethereum, though slightly more had heard of NFTs. While nearly a third couldn’t provide the definition for NFTs, interestingly 61.7% of respondents revealed plans on investing in them shortly. Women expressed particular interest in the opportunity, with 66.1% planning to invest in 2021. While millennials were most familiar with NFTs, almost a third of baby boomers knew about non-fungible tokens as well.
