Input Output Hong Kong, the research and development (R&D) company behind Cardano blockchain and Chinese public blockchain network Nervos has announced the launch of a cross-chain bridge connecting the two networks to enable users to transact assets between the two blockchains. Cardano Launches Cross-Chain Bridge to Nervos IOHK and Nervos are teaming up to build interoperability between Cardano and Nervos Network within the next six weeks, according to an announcement by the development team behind Cardano. Dubbed as Force Bridge, the bridge will facilitate users to transact between Cardano and Nervos blockchains using ADA and CKB, the native cryptocurrencies of the respective blockchains. Other features will include the ability to create their own tokens across both networks done through token wrapping done through Cardano’s native token tech and Nervos’s UDT technology. Commenting on the Force Bridge technology, Kevin Wang, co-founder of Nervos, said: ‘Using the Force Bridge to link the Nervos Network and Cardano is especially exciting given the relationship we have already built with IOHK. We have been growing our research and development partnership, but we will soon have a tangible bridge that will also showcase the power of the Force Bridge and push us further along the road to a functional and interoperable network.’ Cardano’s First Cross-Chain Bridge and Nervos’s Second Following the bridge completion, this will be Cardano’s first cross-chain bridge and Nervos’s second after Ethereum. Through the bridge, developers using the Nervos blockchain will have full access to IOHK’s industry-leading token solution for Cardano, including DeFi apps built on top of the Plutus smart contract and other features. Blockchain accelerator Mousebelt will be developing the bridge with a full funding grant coming from Nervos. Romain Pellerin, IOHK’s chief technology officer, remarks on the necessity of interoperability bridges: “We believe that blockchain technology will only achieve mainstream acceptance when end-users are not locked into one blockchain or standard, but can seamlessly access value and utility, regardless of which blockchain they are using. As a result, bridges like this are an absolute necessity in order to ensure that users have a seamless experience.”
